This article covers adding @ tags into your posts for Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. These are currently the only sites where @ tagging is possible via EOSocial.
Tip: Please be aware that...
- If you're unable to find the tag you're looking for in the drop-down list of tags, try adding spaces between words, as this may generate more results depending on how the social media site reads each page’s tag.
- Tagging is currently not available from within the Content Library.
- To add a tag, you'll have to enter the "@" symbol and select the profile/page you would like to tag (or the symbols @, #, &), and you won't be able to copy and paste a tag into your Compose Box.
To tag a Twitter handle in your post, select your Twitter profile, enter the "@" symbol in the text box, and start typing the handle you'd like to tag.
Once you've entered the Twitter handle, a list will appear beneath it displaying a number of handles. Click on the one you'd like to tag, and it will be added to your post.
Note: Please ensure that your Facebook Page has been Verified, and that your Page Quality is also green, (which means that your page hasn't violated any of Facebook's Community Standards, as these two factors may affect your page visibility when searching/tagging the Facebook page via Facebook's API
To tag a Facebook Page in your post, select your Facebook Page profile, enter the "@" symbol in the text box, and start typing the handle you'd like to tag.
Once you've entered that Facebook Pages handle, a list will appear beneath it displaying a number of available handles. Click on the one you'd like to tag, and it will be added to your post.
Please bear in mind that Facebook currently only allows Facebook Pages to be tagged, and so you will not be able to tag individual Facebook Profiles.
Important: If you're unable to find the page you're looking for in the drop-down list, please try searching for that page using the Page Name instead of the tag, and with spaces in between each word
To tag a LinkedIn Company Page in your post, select your LinkedIn profile, enter the "@" symbol in the text box, and start typing the LinkedIn Company Page you'd like to tag.
Once you've entered that LinkedIn Company Pages handle, a list will appear beneath it displaying a number of available handles. Click on the one you'd like to tag, and it will be added to your post.
Note: LinkedIn currently only allows Company Pages to be tagged, and so you will not be able to tag individual LinkedIn Profiles.
Multiple Profiles
When you have selected multiple profiles which you would like to add a tag for, you'll find that you won't be able to add tags for all these profiles in the main compose box tab, and that only one of these profiles will be able to be tagged.
When applying tags here, the first profile which will become available to pull a tag from the main tab is Twitter, then follow Facebook, Instagram (Hashtags), and LinkedIn, in that order of priority. So if you have added a Facebook and a LinkedIn profile, you'll be able to tag a Facebook Page from your main tab, and then you'll have to add the tag for your LinkedIn profile in the LinkedIn tab.
So, if you would like to create a post that includes multiple profiles and you would like to add a tag for each one, you'll have to add the tag individually per social site.
